The Heart Behind Your Journey: Meet Our Founder, Francis
A great safari isn’t about looking at animals through a window. It’s about feeling the heartbeat of the wild alongside someone who has called it home their entire life.
Founded in January 2017 by Mr. Obedgiu Francis, Angara Tours and Travel was born out of a desire to replace rigid, corporate tours with genuine insider access. Raised in Pakwach, at the northern gates of Murchison Falls, Francis spent his childhood tracking elephant herds and reading the rhythms of the Nile.
Today, we are a fully licensed boutique agency (UTB/RTT/TO/2022/100350), but our soul remains intimate. Francis still personally drives our custom 4x4 vehicles, guiding travelers away from crowded tour buses and straight into raw, unvarnished wilderness. Whether navigating hidden savanna trails or securing exclusive Bwindi gorilla permits, our local footprint transforms a standard holiday into a lifelong connection.
With Angara, you aren’t buying a generic itinerary. You are stepping into Francis’s world—and we can’t wait to welcome you home.
We do not subcontract your safety or comfort to third-party operators. Angara owns its entire fleet of custom-built 4x4 Safari Land Cruisers and employs its guides full-time. Because we are based permanently at the gateway of Murchison Falls, we maintain total command over your logistics, vehicle readiness, and real-time field operations from the moment you land.
Navigating bureaucratic permit systems from abroad can be incredibly stressful. We handle the entire procurement process directly with the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA). When you book a Gorilla or Chimpanzee trek with us, your tracking allocations are legally secured, verified, and locked into your itinerary firsthand—with zero hidden agency markups.
A great safari should leave a positive footprint. We are deeply committed to conservation and community equity. Angara ensures fair, premium wages for our local trackers, guides, and park porters. Furthermore, a portion of every booking directly supports community-led conservation and economic initiatives in Pakwach and the villages bordering Bwindi, ensuring your journey directly empowers the guardians of Uganda's wilderness.
